Q: Who is developing Magicosm?
Magicosm is being developed my an all volunteer team. Because of this, our team fluctuates and is constantly changing. For a current list of our team, visit our team page.

Q: When is the game going to be done?
That's a difficult question to answer. First of all, we'll be releasing the game well before all the features we want will be in the game (this is normal for mmorpgs). Second, with our team being all volunteer, meeting firm deadlines is difficult. Truth be told, we don't know exactly when the game will be released. The team has a working goal of "sometime in 2004" but that can (and likely will) change at any given moment.

Q: Will there be a beta test?
Yes, of course. We will have a couple beta testing periods. Our initial beta test will be a closed test to about 100 users. This first beta test will be to simply test current features, user interface, and various other things. We will then have a larger beta test to check server load in addition to the other normal things tested during a beta test. We are hoping to have our first, closed, beta test by the end of the year.

Q: Is there a monthly fee and how much is it?
Yes, there will be a monthly fee. No, we don't know exactly how much. You can expect it to be comparable to what other MMORPGs are charging at the time of release.

Q: Do you really think you can compete with the likes of Star Wars Galaxies and Worlds of Warcraft?
Yes! First of all, we realize we won't have the level of graphics of those games. We also realize that we likely won't have the volume of subscribers that they do (at least initially). However, we will be offering a very unique and player-driven MMORPG that isn't guided my marketing folks and the bottom line. We are gamers creating a MMORPG that we think gamers want, not what the marketing think you want. Magicosm will be an online world, not just an online "game".

Q: Given the flood of the MMORPG market, why are you doing this?
Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay! We want a certain kind of game that just isn't out there. Magicosm isn't going to be your cookie cutter, hack-n-slash game, it is going to be a deep, rich, and complex world where you "live". It is also going to offer things that no other MMORPG currently does. In Magicosm, not everyone will be able to accomplish everything. When a player kills a special, high-level creature, it will be legendary, not commonplace. When a player builds a castle, it will be a real accomplishment. And, when a player pulls together an army to attack and destroy that castle, it will be even more amazing. This is the world we are creating.
